How important is one's birth chart when delving into their astrology?

Your birth chart is the map of how the planets aligned at the time you were born. It’s a snap shot in time and representative of YOUR moment. The planets had something to say about your life, personality, strengths, challenges, relationships and ultimate course of direction. This chart, or what I call your planetary picture, is essential in bringing your story to life. My name is Crystal but I don’t stare into a crystal ball when I read someone’s astrology. I look at your planetary picture or astrology chart in order to discover who you really are and what the planets are saying to you specifically.

Crystal, you are the founder of CrystalBAstrology.com. You've created a community of self discovery and learning. How did you start your career in astrology?

I grew up with astrology as my father is also an astrologer. I never had to read a horoscope growing up because he would always tell me about my chart. He didn’t create a business with astrology but rather helped friends and family using it. I learned all of my foundational knowledge through him. When my daughter, who is now 14, was born she had a lot of health problems --- specifically mysterious seizures.

During that dark period for her and me, going through the maze of whys, astrology gave me answers that nothing else did. My dad helped me to use astrology to stay hopeful and as a reminder that the tides would eventually turn. I ended up using astrology to time our good days and our bad which helped me get through that very trying period.

After she got better, I started to use what I learned to help others and eventually I became busy and my husband encouraged me to start a business. I wasn’t comfortable with my unusual gifts for a long time and operated in secret for many years before sharing my picture and info. I have fought for the power and knowledge of astrology. The planets deserver our respect as a legitimate source of inspiration and information about who we are and our journeys.

How do you respond when people ask, "Why Don't My Sun Sign's Traits Match My Personality?"

There is MORE to your story than just what one planet has to say! There were 10 planetary bodies saying something about who we are – and where we’re destined to go – when we were born. If you only looking at one planet – you’re only getting 1/10th of the picture!

What are the first steps someone new to astrology should take to discovering more about themselves and their astrology?

Pick up a copy of Feed Your Moon! After working with thousands of people across the world, I’ve laid it all out simply. Astrology can be complicated – it’s important to connect with someone who can simplify the message and keep it positive. I’d also recommend following legitimate and credible sources on social media. There is a lot of info running around today – make sure you’re connecting with someone who really knows what they are talking about.

What is the moon sign? How important is moon astrology in the understanding of ourselves?

The moon is a marker of what we need emotionally. She is the place we turn to when we’re stressed and need solace. It’s essential to how we feel and process emotions--- but we don’t always reveal that to others. Sometimes we don’t even realize how we’re doing it ourselves! The moon holds the most important secrets of our puzzle. FEEDING it, as is outlined in my book, delivers the ultimate kind of emotional satisfaction.

What does "Feed Your Moon" signify?

The title Feed Your Moon came to me through many years of talking to people about what they really want. I would always say to my clients, you’ve got to lean into your Moon and feed it. Feed Your Moon helps you to understand what your Moon wants --- it’s hungry and if we’re not feeding it we will be miserable. But its needs are always changing, which means that we have to have the right knowledge to know when to change the recipe!

Astrology is a language of pictures. While I’m not an artist, I have always connected to the arts in order to help bring the story to life.

Aside from your deep passion for astrology, I know you also have a strong connection to the visual arts. We met through art!

Astrology is a language of pictures. While I’m not an artist, I have always connected to the arts in order to help bring the story to life. When I have 16 my brother who was very artistically talented passed away. I always feel like he’s helping me connect to artists from behind the scenes.

Can you tell us about what compelled you Elisa Valenti Studio?

I was drawn to Elisa Valenti Studio during a period where I was very much connected to finding authentic people who embrace their work and art in a meaningful way. Mental health and understanding our astrology behind it has always been a passion of mine. I work with a lot of people, women specifically, who don’t feel like that. Elisa’s work immediately struck me as getting to the heart of our matter – it cuts through all the falsities of perfection and gets to our true beauty. Her mantra of “I am Enough” pulled me in right away.

Does any one piece have particular significance to you?

I love how she believes in her message and lives it out every day. It’s one thing to say it – but another thing to live it and Elisa encourages people to do both. She is an inspiration. The piece that drew me in first to Elisa’s Studio was “Creation of a Dame.” I actually wrote a piece about our changing world in 2019 using it as my inspiration: I always knew our world was going to change significantly and I saw Elisa and her work as being an important part of where we would go next!
